Backwoods Poet

I’ve written poetry for much of my life. Yet, it wasn’t until 2019 that it became a part of the way I creatively express myself. Poetry is an outlet that’s subtle, open to interpretation, and each reader can take away what they like and discard the rest. For me, it’s the epitome of language as imagery to demonstrate emotion.

The themes I explore are nature, life and death, spirituality, relationships, experiences, and emotions. My inspiration emerges from personal anecdotes to the ones I intimately hear from others but are not explicitly shared in the context of any poem.

Aeon

From the aeons within clouds
of stardust, the stream of Light
enfolded us in its shrouds.
We are what we are and
have eternally been—an ineffable,
pulsing, pleroma of love.
To you, I leave hope in the deep
waters of empty space where
the mysteries and miracles keep.

Brothers

Billions of clusters fulminate
and the stars fall from the ether.
The salient sentience undulates—
she is the only and last, our Mother,
who watched her cosmic sons clash
in an unrivaled titanous might.
She weaved them gently in amity—
consoling them into one Light.

Everglade Tree

I searched for that tree,
the one that was yours alone—
a solitary, silhouette surrounded
by flooded marshlands—
unmovable in its integrity.
My little boat came to visit your waterlogged, tangled roots
etched in weary but peaceful smiles
and left with the seeds you planted.
